My Story
I’m a licensed professional counselor in Oregon. I hold a master’s degree from Humboldt State University in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on marriage and families. My training includes trauma recovery using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR) and Nature Based Therapy. Prior to becoming a student, I worked in the special events industry mainly creating weddings, holiday events and fund raisers. I always noticed one thing in common…people almost always preferred to be outdoors! And if they didn’t, the brought the outdoors inside! The reality is not many people stop to acknowledge why that might be and how key nature really is to their well-being. My love of nature began as a child born in “Big Sky Country” Montana spending summers up at the lakes in Glacier Park. As I moved to Arizona and different parts of California, I went to the beach and continued to spend time at the lakes or float down the river. Now being in the PNW we have it all!! My family spends most our free time camping, hiking, kayaking or snowboarding and exploring the coast.
Over the past 10 years my experience included working predominately with adults in an inpatient hospital setting providing individual and group support for mental health and substance abuse recovery. For most of my time there, I was stuck between concrete walls and always high strung until I would get outdoors (hindsight is 20/20). I have now transitioned to full time private practice providing therapy for a wide arrange of concerns such as depression, anxiety, substance use, anger issues, autism, trauma and relational work with couples and families. I get to share my love of the outdoors with my love of helping others, to create access for people to collaborate with nature and to develop that therapeutic relationship.
